Lazio Eyes Mikel Oyarzabal Amid Transfer Talks for Loum Tchaouna

Munich, Germany – March 04: Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri expressed his desire to add Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal to his attacking options. Sarri, speaking during a press conference at Allianz Arena, acknowledged the club’s plans for a quiet transfer market, but emphasized that Oyarzabal is a key target if he has funds for new players.
The 28-year-old forward began his career at Eibar‘s academy and joined Real Sociedad at age 14, where he has become a central figure in the team’s history. Oyarzabal is known for his versatility and has been an important player for the Spanish national team, notably scoring the winning goal during Euro 2024 against England.
Recently, he showcased his talent by scoring and assisting in the UEFA Nations League final, although Spain ultimately lost to Portugal. Sarri believes Oyarzabal’s skills would complement the tactics he implements at Lazio. However, as of now, this transfer remains a dream for Lazio.
In another transfer-related development, Burnley expressed interest in Lazio winger Loum Tchaouna, but sources clarify that it remains only an inquiry. Despite earlier reports suggesting a deal for €13-15 million was imminent, Tchaouna has not yet left Lazio, raising questions about the accuracy of those claims.
The 21-year-old Frenchman could still move in the summer, with potential interest from PSV Eindhoven as well. Lazio’s management might evaluate Tchaouna during pre-season before making a definitive decision on his future.
Furthermore, Lazio has reached an agreement to extend Matias Vecino‘s contract for another year. The Uruguayan midfielder, who has had a successful history playing under Sarri since their time at Empoli, will remain with Lazio after some uncertainty about his future.
Finally, Burnley is reportedly on the verge of finalizing the transfer of Tchaouna. The two clubs are believed to be in the last stages of negotiations, with a fee around €13-15 million being discussed. It is yet to be determined if the agreement will be for a permanent transfer or a loan agreement.
