Egor Demin Expected to Be Drafted by NBA Teams This Week

PROVO, Utah — Former Brigham Young University guard Egor Demin is poised to be selected in the 2025 NBA Draft scheduled for Wednesday, June 25. After an impressive season and workouts with various teams, Demin is projected to be a first-round pick.
Demin, a 6-foot-9 point guard from Moscow, gained attention for his skills and size during his lone season with the Cougars, averaging 10.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds. He stands out as one of the most highly regarded prospects from BYU in over a decade.
His final season included memorable performances, particularly in the Big 12, where he was noted for his ability to control the pace of the game. At a recent NBA Draft combine, Demin impressed scouts with his shooting, overcoming earlier concerns regarding his efficiency from beyond the arc.
NBA executives have taken note of his potential as a playmaker, with some comparing him to Josh Giddey for his passing and court vision. An Eastern Conference scout noted, “Demin can think on his own, and he doesn’t need a script. He understands flow, who needs touches, and he’s mature beyond what he would be as a rookie.”
Several teams, including the Brooklyn Nets with the ninth pick, have shown significant interest in Demin. With a wide draft range projected between picks 11 and 18, he could find his place in several franchises looking to revamp their rosters.
Once drafted, Demin’s selection will mark a historic moment for BYU basketball, as he will be the first player from the university to be drafted since Jimmer Fredette in 2011. His journey from Real Madrid‘s youth team to BYU reflects the increasing trend of international players making an impact in the NBA.
Regardless of where he lands, Demin is expected to contribute as he develops further in the league.
