Billy Harris Advances in Eastbourne with Win Over Bellucci

Eastbourne, England – Billy Harris, ranked No. 142, surprised fans on Wednesday by defeating Mattia Bellucci, the 74th ranked player, 6-3, 6-4 in the Round of 16 at the Rothesay International Eastbourne.
Bellucci started as the favorite with odds at -175, while Harris was the underdog with +135. Despite those odds, Harris showed strong performance on the grass surface at Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club.
Harris reached this round after a notable victory over wildcard Cameron Norrie, winning 6-4, 6-4. Bellucci, coming off a win against Frenchman Quentin Halys (6-4, 6-2), had previously bested Harris in their only prior encounter last year in Shanghai.
“It feels great to win here at home,” Harris said after his match, highlighting the support from local fans. “Playing on grass has its challenges, but I’m excited to keep going.”
Looking ahead, Harris is set to face Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No. 4 seed who defeated Italian Lorenzo Sonego 7-5, 6-4 earlier on Wednesday. Humbert’s strong form sets up a challenging match for Harris in the quarter-finals.
