Chase Briscoe’s Bold Prediction Fuels Dover Victory

DOVER, Del. — Chase Briscoe didn’t just win the Xfinity Series race at Dover in 2020; he predicted it. During a fanless doubleheader weekend impacted by COVID-19, Briscoe made a remarkable comeback after a disappointing first race.
Entering Dover as a rising star, Briscoe faced a setback after spinning out in his initial race. Despite the challenges, he made a bold declaration to his wife, stating, ‘I’m gonna win tomorrow.’ This moment signified his determination to recover and succeed.
In an interview with SiriusXM, Briscoe recalled the surreal experience of competing without fans. “It was during COVID. There was nobody there… but it was a unique thing where we ran two races back to back,” he said.
After an unfortunate finish on Saturday, Briscoe switched to a backup car for the following day’s race. “I felt like I had the best car, and I got under somebody off of two and spun myself out,” he explained, expressing his frustration with himself.
Briscoe’s experience from the first race proved beneficial. He learned essential track details, including line management and corner entry points. This knowledge helped him navigate effectively in the backup car the next day.
Starting from the back of the field, Briscoe showcased resilience and skill, ultimately winning the race. ‘We started in the back and were able to win the race. I learned so much on Saturday,’ Briscoe reflected.
His victory at Dover in 2020 remains a defining moment in his Xfinity career, showcasing not just the win but his personal and professional growth during an unprecedented time in sport.
