Cubs President Jed Hoyer Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension

MILWAUKEE — The Chicago Cubs and president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract extension, according to a team source. This decision comes as Hoyer enters the final year of his five-year contract.
Hoyer has been a pivotal part of the Cubs organization since 2011, when he joined as general manager under then-president of baseball operations Theo Epstein. After Epstein stepped down in 2020, Hoyer took over the president role and has since aided the team in achieving a World Series championship in 2016, marking their first title in 108 years.
“Jed and his baseball operations staff have built a healthy player development organization and put an exciting, playoff contending team on the field,” said Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts in a statement. Ricketts expressed anticipation for continuing their partnership in the seasons to come.
In his statement, Hoyer expressed gratitude towards the Ricketts family for their trust over the past 14 years, saying, “The Cubs are a special organization with an amazing fan base. I’m excited to keep building on the momentum we have.”
As of now, the Cubs are tied for first place with the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central, boasting a record of 62-43. With the trade deadline approaching, Hoyer and his front office are working on improving the roster, particularly seeking additional pitching and potential upgrades at third base.
Fans remain hopeful as they look forward to how Hoyer’s extension will impact the team’s future.
