SonyLIV Unveils Gripping Political Drama Dynasty for 2025 Slate

MUMBAI, India – Indian streaming service SonyLIV has announced the release of its new political drama, Dynasty, set to debut in 2025. Starring acclaimed actress Raveena Tandon, the show will explore the dynamics of power and control.
Dynasty tells the story of Tandon’s character, the daughter of India’s Prime Minister, who unexpectedly rises to power after her father’s sudden death. Initially viewed as a puppet by the old political establishment, she eventually challenges the status quo and transforms into one of the country’s most powerful and controversial leaders.
Danish Khan, Business Head of SonyLIV, described Dynasty as a “sharp, character-driven story about power, control and transformation” that fits within the platform’s History & Politics editorial category. Kang also expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming year, revealing plans to enhance content discoverability through partnerships.
Not only is Dynasty highly anticipated, but it marks the beginning of a broader strategy for SonyLIV. Khan mentioned that the streaming service intends to expand its audience in regional language markets, with particular focus on Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam content, as they have had limited exposure in the south.
As part of its 2025 content slate, more than 20 original shows are planned, including Real Kashmir Football Club, which focuses on the establishment of Kashmir’s first professional men’s football club, and a new addition to the Scam franchise titled Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga.
With an ambitious line-up of Hindi and regional language originals, SonyLIV aims to capture a diverse audience across India. As the competition heats up with the recent launch of JioHotstar, Khan remains confident, stating that there is room for multiple players in the thriving Indian streaming landscape.
“We have seen significant year-over-year growth, and we remain focused on providing unique and engaging content,” Khan said. SonyLIV is also expanding international availability, now reaching audiences in 42 countries.
The political intrigue of Dynasty and the accompanying slate of original programming marks an exciting time for SonyLIV as they continue their journey to captivate viewers across India and beyond.
