Duquesne Dukes and Akron Zips Clash in Week 4 Showdown
Akron, Ohio – The Duquesne Dukes will face the Akron Zips on Saturday at InfoCision Stadium, kicking off at 6 PM. This matchup highlights two teams at different points in their season. Duquesne, with a record of 1-2, looks to build on recent performances, while Akron is still seeking its first win, currently at 0-3.
Duquesne has showcased talent this season, particularly from graduate quarterback Tyler Riddell, who has thrown for eight touchdown passes with only one interception. His connection with wide receiver Joey Isabella has also been noteworthy, as Isabella recorded over 150 receiving yards along with a long touchdown during their previous game against Lehigh.
Defensively, Duquesne has proven to be solid against the run, an advantage they hope will stifle Akron’s ground game. “If we can control the line of scrimmage, we should have opportunities to make plays,” said Dukes’ head coach Jerry Schmitt.
On the other side, Akron has struggled offensively, averaging under 300 yards per game while facing a tough schedule. With quarterback Ben Finley leading the charge, the Zips hope to improve their passing game, which has been modest at best. Their rushing attack has not provided much support either.
“We need to find ways to get the ball moving down the field,” said Akron coach Joe Moorhead. “Every game is crucial at this stage, and we are working hard to turn things around.”
Akron’s defense has been inconsistent, yielding many points and essential yardage through the air. For Duquesne, sustaining drives and minimizing mistakes could lead them to build momentum in this crucial game.
College football fans won’t want to miss this matchup as both teams seek victories for different reasons. A win for Duquesne could spark further success this season, while Akron aims to break their losing streak.
