Cincinnati Reds Chicago Cubs Game Delay

CINCINNATI — Rainy weather around Great American Ball Park has delayed the start of the Chicago Cubs series finale against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. First pitch is now scheduled for 1:50 p.m. Central time, 70 minutes after the original start time.

The Cincinnati Reds have won the first three games of the series and are currently on a four-game winning streak. Their recent success has brought them within one game of the third and final National League Wild Card spot, especially after the New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals on Saturday.

Andrew Abbott is set to start on the mound for Cincinnati in the series finale. Despite the Cubs having clinched a playoff spot, they are aiming to secure the top wild-card position to host their wild-card series next week at Wrigley Field. The Cubs haven’t lost more than three consecutive games this season; their last four-game losing streak occurred in June 2024.

With the rain delay underway, both teams will be keenly focused on the game, which holds significant implications for postseason positioning.
