Ruvalcaba’s Insult Fuels Tension Between Pumas and America Players

México City, Mexico – Tensions flared during the Liga MX Apertura 2025 match between Pumas and America on Saturday, following a heated exchange between players Jorge Ruvalcaba and Allan Saint-Maximin.
In the first 10 minutes of the game, Ruvalcaba brought down Saint-Maximin during an offensive play along the left sideline. The referee deemed the tackle clean, but Saint-Maximin was not satisfied and confronted Ruvalcaba, leading to a heated argument and pushing from players on both teams.
With no cards issued, the match continued, but emotions ran high as both teams sought to secure a better position in the league standings. The involvement of both teams made it clear that the rivalry was brewing beyond just the game itself.
Even after sustaining a minor injury from the fall, Saint-Maximin signaled to his teammates that he was in pain. Despite limping initially, he resumed play without major issues, marking his third start after previous games against Chivas and Monterrey.
The intensity of the match illustrated the fierce competition within Liga MX, where every point matters.
