ATP Shanghai Masters: Predictions for Upcoming Matches

SHANGHAI, China – The ATP Shanghai Masters will feature several exciting matches on Wednesday, including matchups between Adrian Mannarino and Matteo Berrettini, Jordan Thompson and August Holmgren, Yoshihito Nishioka and Alexander Shevchenko, Marin Cilic and Nikoloz Basilashvili, and Tristan Schoolkate and Daniel Altmaier.
The round of 128 will open with Mannarino facing Berrettini at 1:40 AM ET. Dimers’ advanced model predicts Berrettini as the probable winner, estimating his chance of victory at 55% compared to Mannarino’s 45%. “We have simulated the outcome of this match 10,000 times,” said Greg Butyn, a data analyst at Dimers.
Next, Thompson will meet Holmgren at 2:00 AM ET. The same model projects Thompson to have a strong chance of winning at 68%, while Holmgren is at 32%. “This match should provide close competition,” said Butyn.
Following them, at 3:10 AM ET, Nishioka will take on Shevchenko. Nishioka is predicted to win with a 57% likelihood, leaving Shevchenko with 43%. The odds reflect the competitive nature of this match.
Cilic will be paired against Basilashvili, also at 1:40 AM ET. Dimers’ analysis shows Cilic holds a slight edge with a 51% chance of winning. This match is set to be tightly contested with Basilashvili’s chance at 49%.
Finally, Schoolkate and Altmaier will compete at 2:00 AM ET. Interestingly, this match has been deemed evenly matched, each player having a 50% chance of winning according to current simulations. “It’s going to be a highly competitive match,” Butyn noted.
