Wayward Netflix Series Toni Collette

LOS ANGELES, CA — Netflix‘s new limited series “Wayward” has taken the top spot on the streaming platform’s global Top 10 shows list for the week of Sept. 22 to 28. The psychological mystery quickly became a hit, achieving this milestone just three days after its release on Sept. 25.

“Wayward” is set in the fictional town of Tall Pines, where a newcomer police officer begins to question the operations of a school for troubled teens amid a series of strange occurrences. Academy Award nominee Toni Collette plays the eerie leader of the school, enticing viewers with the tagline that “all is not what it seems.”

Following “Wayward,” the limited series “Black Rabbit” claimed the second position, while “House of Guinness” rounded out the top three most-watched shows during the same period. The series “Wednesday” (Season 2) dropped to fourth place after an impressive eight-week run in the top 10.

The rapid success of “Wayward” can be attributed to its gripping content, featuring startling twists and mysterious events that have captivated audiences. An impressive 8.2 million views contributed to its rise as a crowd favorite.

To further illustrate Netflix’s dominance, the film “Slay” reached another significant milestone as it became the longest-running original English film to remain in the Top 10, officially celebrating its 15th week there with an additional 19.3 million views. Following this trend, “Max,” a Spanish series about a newly released prisoner amid a nuclear showdown, ranked at No. 1 in its second week, garnering 10.3 million views.

On the rom-com front, German series “House of Guinness” and a quirky French romance have also made waves, continuing to attract notable viewership numbers. As viewers’ preferences shift, Netflix remains at the forefront of captivating original programming.

“Wayward,” with its interesting plot and stellar performances, is likely to stay a fan favorite for the foreseeable future.
