Ikea Scarborough Town Centre Closing News

Scarborough, OntarioIKEA has announced that it will permanently close its Scarborough Town Centre store in early 2026, citing changes in the retail environment and consumer habits in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The Swedish home goods giant posted a message on its website confirming the closure decision, describing it as difficult. The message reads, “IKEA Canada has made the difficult decision to close the IKEA Scarborough Town Centre location.”

While an exact closure date has not been provided, IKEA stated that the store will continue to operate with normal hours until further notice. Customers will still be able to return and exchange items, pick up click-and-collect orders, and dine at the deli during this period.

The Scarborough location, one of IKEA’s smaller ‘City’ stores, covers 7,489 square meters and offers various home goods, including bedding, utensils, and furniture. It acts as both a retail space and a showroom for larger items available for pickup or delivery.

IKEA opened this outlet shortly after launching another City store at Yonge and Gerrard in downtown Toronto in 2022. Despite the closure announcement, the downtown location remains operational, along with other stores in North York, Etobicoke, Burlington, Vaughan, and Ottawa.

As changes unfold in retail, IKEA continues to evaluate its presence in Ontario, ensuring that existing locations adapt to shifting consumer trends.
