Mariah May Leaves AEW for WWE, Pursues New Opportunities

Nashville, Tennessee — Mariah May, formerly known as a popular star in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has signed a multi-year contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), marking a significant move in her wrestling career. The decision comes after May spent two years with AEW, where she gained considerable recognition.
In an episode of the podcast ‘Bully Ray‘, May shared insights into her decision to transition from AEW to WWE. Reflecting on her time in AEW, she said, ‘I had a fantastic experience and did things I’m so proud of and cherish.’ However, she felt her career was at a crossroads when her short contract came to an end.
May articulated her struggle, stating, ‘It got to the point where I had an amazing story, but that was the one thing I had. I didn’t have much else, and I just thought, ‘Is this everything I want?” She considered exploring opportunities in Japan’s wrestling scene but was drawn to WWE after receiving encouragement from peers.
During her conversations with WWE, May noted the company’s commitment to enhancing its women’s division as a decisive factor that influenced her choice. ‘I really sat and thought about it. And it was a really, really tough decision,’ she explained.
Now performing under the name Blake Monroe, May is excited about potential matchups with WWE superstars such as Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley. Previously, she collaborated with stars like Toni Storm while at AEW, winning the 2024 Women’s Owen Hart Cup and the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Although she has not yet earned titles with WWE, she is determined to make her mark, already engaging in a significant feud against Jordynne Grace. With aspirations for the NXT Women’s North American Championship, Monroe is gearing up for her future in the squared circle.
