Chase Briscoe Eyes Championship Spot Amid Strong Round of 8 Competition

LAS VEGAS – As the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs reach the Round of 8, driver Chase Briscoe aims to secure his place in the Championship 4. The 30-year-old from Indiana races for Joe Gibbs Racing and has two wins this season. He hopes to build on his recent performance at the South Point 400 on Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Briscoe’s journey to this point is marked by persistence. Having made it to the Round of 8 last year with Stewart-Haas Racing but failing to advance, he now believes his new team offers a better chance for success. “This is the strongest Round of 8 we’ve ever had,” Briscoe stated during a media release on Saturday. “The points are way tighter than they’ve ever been, too. Nobody has been able to separate themselves.”
In this highly competitive field, Briscoe sees no clear advantage among the drivers. He noted, “It’s definitely different now to be considered one of them, and hopefully we can prove that we belong there too.”
The Round of 8 includes only three teams: Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske, and Hendrick Motorsports, which have dominated recent championships. This adds to the pressure as each driver vies for a spot in the Championship 4.
Briscoe’s confidence stems from his team’s performance leading into this weekend, where he qualified second, right behind teammate Denny Hamlin. “The 19 team has been in a good spot,” Briscoe added, reflecting on the team’s morale and recent results. “We definitely put a lot of emphasis on this weekend.”
Television coverage for the 267-lap race is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. ET on USA Network, with radio coverage provided by Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Briscoe and his competitors are gearing up for an action-packed race in Las Vegas, with hopes of taking a big step toward a potential championship appearance at Phoenix Raceway.
