Reneé Rapp’s Concert Rant Sparks Controversy Over ICE
PORTLAND, Oregon — Singer and actress Reneé Rapp caused a stir during her concert at the Moda Center on October 16, 2025, with a fiery critique of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Trump administration.
While performing as part of her “Bite Me” tour, Rapp expressed her feelings about recent ICE raids in the city. Recorded by attendees, her expletive-laden remarks prompted loud applause from the audience. “Let’s just f—— make it abundantly f—— clear — F— ICE. F— this administration. F— Trump,” she proclaimed from the stage.
Her comments resonated with the anti-ICE sentiment that has been palpable in Portland, which has seen ongoing protests against the agency. Camila Wamsley, director of ICE’s Portland office, reported that the facility has faced over 100 consecutive nights of protests. Demonstrators allegedly launched objects at the building and set up barricades to impede traffic.
The situation escalated when the Trump administration proposed deploying National Guard troops to manage the protests. However, U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut placed a temporary block on this order, stating it could “blur the line between civil and military federal power.”
Rapp was not the only artist to voice opposition to ICE; country musician Zach Bryan also faced backlash for anti-ICE lyrics in his song “Bad News.” In response, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem criticized Bryan’s work, saying it disrespects law enforcement and the country.
Rapp’s performance not only highlighted her artistic expression but also sparked significant discussion online, dividing opinions among fans and critics alike. Many took to social media to react, with some praising her courage while others condemned her remarks.
Despite the controversy, Rapp has built a reputation for her outspoken views and has a dedicated fanbase eager to support her music and messages. Her upcoming projects will likely continue to attract attention, both for her artistry and her candid opinions.
