Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines Launch Atmos Rewards Loyalty Program
SEATTLE, Wash. — Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have announced the launch of their new joint loyalty program, Atmos Rewards, which went live on October 9, 2023. This program is set to enhance the travel experience for millions of their customers as part of a larger plan to combine operations between the two airlines.
“We listened to what our members value most and built a program that’s grounded in generosity, personalization and practicality,” said Andrew Harrison, chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines. The new rewards program aims to replace the highly regarded Mileage Plan program previously offered by Alaska Airlines, promising benefits that include allowing members to choose how they earn status.
Currently, members of the Mileage Plan will see their accounts automatically converted into Atmos Rewards accounts, retaining the same membership numbers. HawaiianMiles members, however, will be transitioned to the new program on October 1, 2025, and will receive new account numbers if needed.
Atmos Rewards features several noteworthy changes, including new status tiers and benefits. Members can earn status based on distance traveled, money spent, or the number of segments flown. This unique flexibility aims to cater to various travel patterns, allowing each member to tailor their status-earning strategy.
The new status tiers include Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium, with various requirements to achieve each. For example, to attain Silver status, members must earn 20,000 status points, while Titanium requires 100,000. The changes in status criteria will officially begin in 2026.
In addition, Atmos Rewards members will now earn status points on award flights, a first for the industry. Upgrades within the program will also be simplified, with complimentary upgrades available to elite members on select flights starting in 2026.
“Atmos Rewards is an update and complete revamp of our current loyalty offerings, designed to increase the benefits our members can enjoy,” said Harrison. With the merger of the two airlines and the introduction of this new program, customers can look forward to a more seamless travel experience.
Alaska Air Group, which operates Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines among others, has grown its global reach significantly, with hubs in key locations, including Seattle, Honolulu, and Los Angeles. The company plans to join the Oneworld alliance in spring 2026, further enhancing its network.
The Atmos Rewards program represents a significant step towards creating a unified loyalty experience for travelers across the Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines networks, aiming to offer greater value and flexibility than ever before.
