Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown Preseason Injury

BOSTON, Mass. — The Boston Celtics are set to begin their 2025-26 season against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night at TD Garden. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

The Celtics will be without their star forward Jayson Tatum, who is healing from a right Achilles injury. He has been ruled out indefinitely.

Jaylen Brown, another key player, is listed as questionable for the matchup due to a left hamstring strain he sustained during the Celtics’ preseason finale against the Toronto Raptors last week. Despite the injury, Brown has participated in the team’s practices this week and reported feeling good. “I think it was nothing,” he said about the injury. “Maybe a little tweak, but nothing crazy.”

Coach Joe Mazzulla has remained cautious regarding Brown’s status, but his participation in practices suggests he may be ready to play. Brown acknowledged the importance of not rushing back, stating, “There are still 81 more games after Wednesday.”

Brown’s potential absence would leave the Celtics shorthanded, necessitating contributions from Derrick White, Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser, and Neemias Queta. As the team adapts to a roster overhaul this offseason, Brown is keen to test their new game plan. “This is the style of basketball we have to play, and we have to double down on it if we want to be successful,” he said.

The 76ers will also face their own challenges, missing players like Paul George, recovering from knee surgery, and Jared McCain due to thumb surgery. However, star center Joel Embiid is expected to take the court for Philadelphia.

This season opener carries significance for both teams coming off difficult previous seasons. As they look to bounce back, this game serves as an essential starting point for both franchises.
