George Clooney Alexander Afi Fest 2025

Los Angeles, CA — George Clooney, 64, shared a touching moment at the premiere of his new movie “Jay Kelly” at the AFI Fest 2025 on Thursday, October 23. He revealed that his 8-year-old son, Alexander, resembles him closely at the same age. “My son looks exactly like I looked when I was his age, so it is sort of cut and paste in a way,” Clooney told PEOPLE.

As Clooney showed Alexander old pictures of himself at 8, the boy responded, thinking they were images of himself. “It’s pretty fun,” Clooney added. The actor reflected on his life now, saying he feels fortunate to spend time with his loved ones.

“I’m in a pretty comfortable place in life. I like what I do for a living, I have great friends, I spend time with people that I love,” he said. Clooney welcomed twins, Alexander and his sister Ella, with wife Amal, 47, when he was 56 years old.

The actor discussed how fatherhood changed his adventurous lifestyle. “Well, you have to be careful, right? You can’t just go swinging as you used to,” he explained. He and Amal had to reassess their high-risk activities, having previously worked in dangerous regions like Darfur and the Nuba Mountains.

Clooney expressed a desire to shield his children from Hollywood’s pressures. He shared that raising them on a farm in France offers a more balanced life than they would have in Los Angeles. “I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life,” he said.

He also emphasized how life on the farm provides a better upbringing for his children. “They’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in,” he stated. Clooney concluded, “France — they kind of don’t give a s— about fame. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”
