MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Milwaukee Bucks are off to a strong start in the NBA season, winning two of their first three games. This week, they face two significant challenges at home.

The Bucks host the New York Knicks on Tuesday at Fiserv Forum. The Knicks are dealing with injuries but were considered one of the Eastern Conference favorites before the season began. Following the Knicks, the Bucks welcome the Golden State Warriors, who currently hold a record of 3-1, led by star guard Steph Curry.

Milwaukee’s first week of the season has shown promise as sharpshooter AJ Green continues to evolve. Green, who has taken on a larger role, often screens for star player Giannis Antetokounmpo in a strategy known as pick-and-roll. His ability to set effective screens has established a powerful combination with Antetokounmpo, allowing the MVP to score or assist effectively.

During a recent game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Green executed a Spain pick-and-roll that led to a scoring opportunity when defenders focused on him, leaving an open shot for another player.

“It’s really just knowing how they’re guarding,” Green said. “If they’re switching, I can get out early, but if they’re in drop, I hit the big man.” His insights highlight the tactical evolution of team play as they look to improve their performance.

Point guard Ryan Rollins also showcased improvements in his game. He acknowledged a missed opportunity during the season opener against the Washington Wizards but reflected positively on his learning process. “You just gotta be aggressive and know your shots,” Rollins stated after the shootaround in Toronto.

Rollins has played at least 29 minutes in all three games this season, averaging 12 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. His role has expanded largely due to injuries within the team.

Head coach Doc Rivers has also praised Rollins’ adaptability, noting the need for him to engage more aggressively in the game. “The more you play, you just feel the game more,” he said.

Antetokounmpo remains a focal point for opposing teams, often facing hard fouls designed to prevent him from scoring easily. In a recent incident, he had a flagrant foul called against him while trying to make a dunk, underscoring his status as a leading player who draws significant defensive attention.

Antetokounmpo has averaged 36 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists through the initial three games of the season, further solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most formidable players. As the Bucks aim to maintain their early success, they will be tested in the coming week.
