Devils Face Sharks in Game Two of Road Trip Tonight
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The New Jersey Devils will face the San Jose Sharks tonight at SAP Center, continuing their four-game road trip. The game starts at 10 p.m. ET, following the Devils’ recent 8-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, which ended their eight-game winning streak.
Devils goaltender Jake Allen, who recorded 16 saves on 17 shots against the Sharks in a 3-1 victory last week, is expected to start. The Devils made some adjustments to their lineup during Thursday’s morning skate, with changes to the defensive pairings aimed at improving their performance after the loss to Colorado.
Forward Jesper Bratt emphasized the team’s focus on bouncing back. “We all know how last game went. Today is just a matter of bouncing back to our game,” Bratt said. “We have a motivated group. We want to get back on the winning train.”
The Devils played against the Sharks just six days ago, securing a win thanks to two power-play goals by Dougie Hamilton. Hamilton has been impactful lately, with three goals and four points in his last three games.
In contrast, the Sharks have struggled this season, achieving a 2-6-2 record. They are in the midst of a rebuild, with young talents like Macklin Celebrini showcasing promise. Celebrini has a five-game scoring streak and is expected to be a key player again tonight.
Despite the Sharks facing difficulties this season, Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe warned his players to remain vigilant. “It’s pretty obvious they don’t feel great about the game, but we’ll push past it. And I’m really interested in our response,” Keefe stated.
Injuries have affected the Devils’ roster, with players like Brett Pesce and Cody Glass sidelined. Nevertheless, the team is eager to rebound from their last game’s performance.
The puck drops tonight as New Jersey looks to complete the season sweep over San Jose and get back on track.
