SAN DIEGO, California — The high school football regular season came to a thrilling close this weekend, showcasing numerous key matchups across various leagues. Teams across Southern California battled it out as playoff brackets loom just days away.

In a standout game, Mission Hills captured the Avocado West League title by defeating San Marcos 28-21. With this victory, Mission Hills ended the season with a 9-1 record. Quarterback Troy Huhn was instrumental, throwing for two touchdowns while also contributing on the ground.

No. 2 Cathedral Catholic achieved a resounding 56-7 victory over University City, securing the Western League championship. Brady Palmer, returning from injury, completed 12 of 16 passes for 387 yards and five touchdowns, marking a strong comeback.

La Costa Canyon also claimed a share of the Avocado West League title, beating Torrey Pines 31-20. Coby Herman stood out with impressive touchdown runs, while quarterback Quinn Roth showed versatility with both passing and rushing scores.

Lincoln dominated Scripps Ranch with a score of 49-13, led by Jordan Roa’s passing performance. Meanwhile, Carlsbad maintained its strong form, defeating Del Norte 34-6.

In the East, Point Loma concluded its season unbeaten at 10-0 after a 31-7 victory against St. Augustine. The school celebrated a successful season with quarterback Henry Heuser throwing three touchdown passes.

Holtville made headlines as Enrique Armas rushed for 300 yards and five touchdowns, leading his team to a victory over Imperial and the Desert League title.

The excitement ramped up as Mission Bay secured the championship in their league, defeating Hoover 49-14, maintaining their perfect record alongside Point Loma and Santa Fe Christian, which also clinched their league title after a 28-9 win over Bishop’s.

As the postseason approaches, teams are eagerly awaiting the playoff brackets to be unveiled on Sunday, with several players making headlines in their final regular season performances.
