High School Football Playoffs Heat Up in Michigan
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The Michigan high school football playoffs are in full swing, with exciting matchups taking place across the state. The Friday Night Frenzy Game of the Week featured Haslett, which defeated St. Johns 49-14.
Other notable scores included Williamston beating Lansing Sexton 47-6, Linden edging Mason 35-28, and DeWitt dominating Owosso 70-13. Fans across Mid-Michigan are closely following the playoff action, as teams vie for a shot at the state championship.
In addition to the highlighted game, the weekend’s results included Michigan Center defeating Romulus 50-14 and Portland overcoming Grand Rapids South Christian in a thrilling overtime finish, winning 42-41. Schools from all around the region participated in the opening round with various outcomes reflecting the competitive nature of Michigan high school football.
As the playoffs continue, attention is already turning toward the district finals. One key matchup to watch is East Lansing (5-5) visiting Midland Dow (9-1) in the Division 2 district final, set for 7 p.m. ET on Friday, November 7, at Midland Dow High School.
Midland Dow advanced impressively, defeating Waterford Mott 51-15 in the semifinals, while East Lansing staged an upset against White Lake Lakeland, winning 26-20. This matchup is expected to draw significant local interest as teams compete for a place in the regional round of the playoffs.
