Palm Springs, California — Renowned actress Sally Kirkland, famous for her Golden Globe-winning role in the 1987 film “Anna,” has entered hospice care as she battles dementia and other serious health challenges. Kirkland, 84, was confirmed to be hospitalized in Palm Springs by her representative, Michael Greene.
Greene is currently traveling from JFK airport to be by her side during this difficult time. He stated that Kirkland is not alone; she is being accompanied by close friend and former student Cody Galloway.
Kirkland has reportedly been struggling with life-threatening infections, as highlighted in a GoFundMe campaign organized by friends. The fundraising effort aims to support her urgent medical expenses.
According to details shared on the GoFundMe page, Kirkland suffered injuries from a fall in the shower. The incident left her with damaged ribs, a hurt foot, and various cuts and bruises.
Kirkland’s illustrious career spans decades, making her a celebrated figure in both film and theater. She received an Academy Award nomination and won a Golden Globe for her eponymous role in “Anna.” Her extensive filmography includes notable performances in films such as “JFK” and “Bruce Almighty,” and she is also known for her ties to Andy Warhol’s artistic circle, having appeared in his work “The 13 Most Beautiful Women.”
Despite her current health struggles, the legacy of Sally Kirkland continues with the upcoming release of “Sallywood,” a film about her life, debuting tomorrow on Amazon Prime.
