Rashad Jennings to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Dancing with the Stars
Lynchburg, VA — Former Liberty University Football star and NFL running back Rashad Jennings will showcase his dance skills once more on November 10 during the 20th birthday celebration of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Jennings, who won Season 24 of the show in 2017, expressed excitement about participating in this special event.
During his time at Liberty from 2006 to 2008, Jennings rushed for a remarkable 3,633 yards and shattered program records with 42 career rushing touchdowns, 22 100-yard games, and 278 points scored. He earned consensus first-team All-American honors in his senior year and was selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Since retiring from the NFL after playing with the Oakland Raiders and New York Giants, Jennings has remained connected with the Liberty community, returning as a guest speaker and for special events, including a jersey celebration in 2020. In the upcoming episode, he will participate in a Relay Dance alongside fellow Mirrorball Trophy winners and will pair with actress Elaine Hendrix, known for her role in the 1998 remake of “The Parent Trap.”
“It’s humbling that I’m part of the 20th anniversary of the show,” Jennings said. He reflected on his unique experience of leading a rehearsal and stepping into the role of a professional dancer. “I’m truly humbled, happy, and look forward to putting smiles on people’s faces again,” he added.
Jennings also shared his gratitude for the support from Liberty, especially during the finale of his season, when many fans gathered on campus for a watch party. “I always stay in touch with Liberty; I’m a Flame forever,” he emphasized, encouraging his fellow alumni to tune in. The “20th Birthday Party” of “Dancing with the Stars” airs live on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
