Larry Page Surpasses Larry Ellison as World’s Second-Richest Person
NEW YORK CITY, NY — Google cofounder Larry Page has surpassed Oracle‘s Larry Ellison to become the world’s second-richest person as Alphabet‘s stock continues to surge on optimism surrounding artificial intelligence (AI).
On Monday, shares of Alphabet rose 5.8% to approximately $317, following an 8.4% increase last week. Page’s net worth jumped to an estimated $255 billion after gaining $8.7 billion on Monday alone. This marks a tremendous growth for Page, whose wealth has soared from $50.9 billion in 2020 to over $144 billion at the beginning of 2025.
In contrast, Ellison’s net worth fell to about $248.8 billion after Oracle’s shares dropped 1.5% on Monday, continuing a decline after a 12% plunge in recent trading sessions.
Meanwhile, Sergey Brin, Page’s cofounder at Google, has also seen a rise in his wealth. On Tuesday, Brin displaced Ellison to become the world’s third-richest person. Shares of Alphabet rose again by 2.2% to around $325.75, fueled by positive market sentiment regarding the company’s AI prospects.
Brin’s estimated net worth is $245.3 billion, just ahead of Ellison, who has a fortune valued at $239.7 billion. Over the last few days, Page and Brin have increased their wealth by a combined $35.2 billion.
The surge in Alphabet’s stock was buoyed by reports that Meta is looking into using Google’s AI chips for its data centers, posing a challenge to competitors like Nvidia. Neither Meta nor Google has commented on the speculation.
As both Page and Brin continue to rise in the wealth rankings, they maintain a significant lead over other notable billionaires, including Amazon‘s Jeff Bezos, who has a net worth estimated at $235.1 billion.
