Aaron Donald Mentors Rams’ Young Star Jared Verse
Los Angeles, CA – Aaron Donald, the former Rams star, is enjoying his retirement while staying connected with his old team. He regularly attends games and has taken a special interest in assisting younger players like Jared Verse.
Verse, who is in his second season with the Rams, spoke about his communication with Donald during an interview on the “Fitz & Whit” podcast. After Verse faced challenges during the Rams’ season opener against the Texans, Donald reached out with advice. Verse recalled, “He shot me a text, like, ‘Hey, man, you’ve got to work something off the power.’”
The two players have maintained a text exchange throughout the season, with Donald providing insights on improving Verse’s pass rush techniques. Verse has sought advice on mastering Donald’s signature cross-chop move, an essential skill for generating sacks. Donald shared his own experience, saying, ‘It took me about a year to master it. If you can knock it out real quick, try it in practice.’
Verse expressed gratitude for Donald’s mentorship, stating, “Just to know that AD – the best defensive player ever, first-ballot Hall of Famer – is reaching out to me, it’s helping me so much.” He emphasized the impact of Donald’s guidance in both his on-field performance and mental approach.
As the Rams prepare for an important game against the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday, Verse is eager to engage in this intense rivalry. Reflecting on the significance of the matchup, he stated, “Whenever you lose a game and you’re lucky enough to get them again… it means a little bit more.”
With the Rams looking to reclaim victory and Donald continuing to make a difference even in retirement, the synergy between past and present players enhances the team’s dynamics.
