Aaron Jones Set to Return for Vikings in Week 8
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — The Minnesota Vikings are preparing for the return of running back Aaron Jones in Week 8 after a prolonged absence due to a hamstring injury. Jones has been on injured reserve since mid-September, following a hamstring strain during a game against Atlanta.
Jones sustained the injury in the second quarter of the Vikings’ Week 2 game, which resulted in a significant drop in performance. Consequently, the team placed him on injured reserve on September 17, meaning he would miss a minimum of four games. The current Week 7 bye further extends his absence, but reports indicate he is on track to be activated for the October 23 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
While recovering, Jones has undergone conservative rehabilitation aimed at ensuring he is fully healthy, considering his history of recurring hamstring problems. Before the injury, he had recorded just 46 rushing yards on 13 carries across two games played.
During Jones’ time on the sidelines, Jordan Mason has emerged as the leading running back for the Vikings. Mason has taken on the bulk of the carries, performing admirably with over 320 rushing yards and three touchdowns, ranking well among his peers for fantasy football.
With Mason’s consistent performance in Jones’ absence, it remains to be seen how the Vikings will handle their backfield. Once Jones returns, he is expected to resume his role on passing downs, which emphasizes his valuable receiving skills. However, Mason’s ability to excel on early downs and in red-zone situations might limit Jones’ workload compared to previous expectations.
As the Week 8 game approaches, fans and fantasy managers alike are eager to see how the Vikings will balance their offensive strategy. Jones’ potential return is seen as essential for revitalizing an offense that has struggled to find a rhythm throughout the season.
