ABC’s ‘High Potential’ Wraps Season 1 with 13 Episodes, Future Uncertain
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — ABC‘s crime procedural ‘High Potential‘ has concluded production on its first season, with 13 episodes set to air, according to TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich. The show, which premiered in September 2024, follows Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson), a single mother with an exceptional mind who partners with a by-the-book detective (Daniel Sunjata) to solve crimes.
The series, based on the popular French show ‘Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI),’ has garnered attention for its unique premise and Olson’s performance. However, ABC has not yet announced whether the show will return for a second season.
‘High Potential’ airs its ninth episode tonight, with four more episodes remaining in the season. The show also stars Judy Reyes as Selena, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, and Matthew Lamb as Elliot.
In recent episodes, the show has explored Morgan’s budding romance with Tom (JD Pardo), a character introduced in episode 6. However, the relationship faces challenges due to Morgan’s demanding schedule as a mother and LAPD consultant. The midseason premiere highlighted these struggles, with Morgan prioritizing work over her personal life.
Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Morgan’s ex-husband, Roman Sinquerra, continues to loom over the season. Selena’s discovery of a potential lead in episode 8 has reignited the investigation, adding another layer of complexity to Morgan’s life.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding its future, ‘High Potential’ has maintained a steady viewership, with fans praising its blend of crime-solving and character-driven storytelling. The show airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
