Actor Rainn Wilson Critiques Media Bias Against Trump and Musk

New York, NY — Rainn Wilson, known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the hit show ‘The Office,’ criticized what he calls ‘left-leaning’ media outlets for undermining public trust in former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk during a recent interview.
Speaking with MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle on his podcast ‘Soul Boom’ Tuesday, Wilson discussed how he believes the media’s portrayal of Trump is excessively negative compared to its treatment of President Joe Biden. He suggested that outlets like MSNBC are overly optimistic about Biden’s administration while neglecting critical issues such as inflation and immigration.
“This is where I would push back: when I see this kind of insight and passion being directed at the current administration and the lack of this kind of insight and passion being directed at the previous administration,” Wilson remarked. He further criticized the media’s stance, saying it resembles ‘Cleopatra, queen of denial’ regarding Biden’s mental acuity.
In response, Ruhle attributed the erosion of trust in the media to Trump and Musk, especially given Musk’s ownership of X, formerly Twitter. “Losing that trust is not by accident, it’s by design,” she said. Ruhle recalled comments made by Steve Bannon during Trump’s first campaign, where he expressed his intention to disrupt the status quo.
“The news media is, in my opinion, the last line of defense of holding power accountable,” Ruhle added, reinforcing the importance of journalistic integrity in a polarized political landscape.
