Actress Kaya Scodelario Continues to Shine in Netflix Projects Following Success in ‘The Gentlemen’
Actress Kaya Scodelario has more work on Netflix lined up after impressing subscribers as the ruthless Susie Glass. Director Guy Ritchie brought the criminal underworld from his 2020 film The Gentlemen back to life for a new series, following new characters trying to survive and thrive in the drug trade.
Newly appointed Duke of Halstead Eddie Horniman was taken aback when he discovered the family estate also housed a multi-million-pound drug operation. Eddie was shown the ropes by gangster Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) who is running the business on her dad Bobby Glass’ (Ray Winstone) behalf as he serves his prison sentence.
Having watched the eight-part drama, Netflix viewers haven’t been able to stop praising Scodelario for her performance as Susie. Taking to X, formerly, one user wrote: “My favourite character… Susie, a classic street girl.” A second agreed: “I’m only one episode in and I’m already obsessed with Susie Glass.”
“Kaya slayed as Susie Glass in The Gentlemen and Theo as Eddie, the role suited him so much, this casting and obsessed with them as a duo,” another commented. And a fourth added: “I love how Susie is calm and collected.”
Not one to let the grass grow following her success on The Gentlemen, Scodelario is already working on another Netflix series. The former Skins actress is going to feature in the upcoming mini-series Senna, a biopic about the life of three-time world champion Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna.
This Brazilian Original biopic, which was first announced back in 2020, delves into the success of Senna who won 41 Grands Prix and previously held the record for most positions. He tragically died in 1994 during the San Marino Grand Prix as during the seventh lap of the race, Senna’s car left the track at 196 miles per hour and slammed into the wall of an unprotected concrete barrier.
Senna will be portrayed by actor Gabriel Leone who is well known throughout Latin America for roles in Dark Days, Velho Chico, Dom, and Duetto. It was announced last year that Scodelario would be joining the cast of Senna as a character called Laura but further details haven’t been released.
Filming for Senna ended in November 2023 so it is expected to make its debut on Netflix sometime later this year. This isn’t the only project Scodelario has got lined up either as, according to her IMDb profile, she will also be in the sci-fi thriller Apteros which is currently in pre-production.
Starring opposite John Wick’s Lance Reddick and Bohemian Rhapsody’s Ben Hardy, Scodelario plays Tressie, one of seven astronauts en route to Mars after bacterial life is discovered. As of yet, a release date for the thriller has not yet come out.
The Gentlemen is available to watch on Netflix.
