Adam Levine The Voice Season 27 Nbc

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Adam Levine, the Maroon 5 frontman and original coach of NBC‘s hit show *The Voice*, is making a highly anticipated return for season 27, set to premiere on Feb. 3. Levine, who left the show in 2019 after 16 seasons, reflected on his decision to come back during an exclusive interview with E! News.

“I just felt like it was time,” Levine said. “I had some time to reflect and do my thing and be with my family. I was ready to do it, then the stars aligned and here I am.” The 45-year-old musician, who shares three children with wife Behati Prinsloo, admitted he didn’t miss the show during his absence but grew nostalgic upon his return.

Levine will join fellow coaches John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and newcomer Snoop Dogg, who expressed excitement about working with country music stars in future seasons. “I feel like no time has passed, but then it also feels so different in an amazing way,” Levine said of reuniting with the coaching panel. “I’m just super happy and pumped. I love these guys so much.”

Levine’s return marks a significant moment for fans of the show, particularly those who remember his playful banter with longtime coach Blake Shelton. The two became close friends during their tenure on *The Voice*, often trading humorous insults that became a fan favorite. “No, no, definitely not. There’s no replacing [Shelton],” Levine said. “The thing that happened with Blake and I, it was so organic, and it was based on our friendship.”

Despite Shelton’s absence, Levine plans to bring a fresh perspective to the competition. “I don’t really see it as a competition anymore,” he explained. “It’s an opportunity for us to share our experiences with the people on the show. I think that’s really valuable for the people on the show that are needing that experience, or that push, that help.”

Season 27 of *The Voice* premieres Monday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
