Addison Rae Pop Star Music Career

NEW YORK, NY — Addison Rae, a social media sensation turned music artist, shared insights about her rise to fame during an interview with The New York Times on May 30.

Once a college student at Louisiana State University, Rae began her career by posting dance videos on TikTok for minimal payment. “I remember getting paid $20 via PayPal to post videos of me dancing to certain artists’ songs,” the 24-year-old musician recalled, reflecting on her early days in social media.

As TikTok started to gain widespread popularity around 2019, Rae capitalized on this trend. “I was surprised by how quickly the music industry jumped on it,” she said. Co-host Jon Caramanica suggested that Rae might have received hundreds of dollars for her posts, but she quickly corrected him. “I wish it was a hundred bucks! It was probably like $20. I was honestly excited to get that,” she added.

Rae also acknowledged the uncertain nature of those initial payments, stating, “It was actually really sketch. I would think, ‘Did the $20 hit the PayPal yet?'” Despite the humble beginnings, Rae has now transitioned into a promising music career.

Her latest single, “Fame is a Gun,” dropped the same day and is intended to showcase her ambition to be a pop star. This track, featuring bold lyrics affirming her dedication to fame, is part of her newly released album via Columbia Records.

“Fame is a Gun” serves not only as a personal declaration but also as a message to critics who may not support her shift from a TikTok performer to recording artist. Rae’s album includes other songs like “Diet Pepsi” and “Aquamarine,” emphasizing her artistic growth.

The energetic pop track reflects Rae’s unapologetic passion for fame and success. In her own words, she is committed to living a “glamorous life,” leaving her past as a TikTok star behind. “Nothing makes me feel as good as being loved by you,” Rae concludes in the song, a nod to her growing fanbase.

With her bold new sound and clear desire to succeed in the music industry, Addison Rae is poised to make a significant impact as she continues to evolve.
