Agency Denies Kim Soo Hyun’s Alleged Relationship with Kim Sae-ron

SEOUL, South Korea — Gold Medalist, the agency representing popular South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun, has firmly refuted allegations made by the YouTube channel Garo-SEO Research Institute regarding the star’s purported romantic involvement with the late actress Kim Sae-ron, who was found deceased on February 16, 2025.

In a statement issued on March 10, Gold Medalist labeled the claims as “clear falsehoods” and announced its consideration of potential legal action against Garo-SEO. The accusations included a claim that Kim Soo Hyun had a six-year relationship with Kim Sae-ron that began in 2015 when she was a minor and he was 27 years old.

The controversy resurfaced following a now-deleted Instagram post by Kim Sae-ron on March 23, 2024, which featured a selfie with Kim Soo Hyun. The agency emphasized in its statement, “The claims made by the Garo-SEO Research Institute regarding actor Kim Soo Hyun through a YouTube broadcast are untrue.”

Moreover, the agency addressed additional allegations, including claims of collusion with YouTuber Lee Jin-ho to harass Kim Sae-ron and accusations surrounding the agency’s management of her 2022 drunk driving incident. “These are falsehoods that cannot be overlooked,” the statement continued, urging the public to refrain from spreading what it deemed baseless claims.

Gold Medalist expressed condolences over Kim Sae-ron’s death, stating, “We express our heartfelt sorrow at the news of the passing of the late Kim Sae-ron, who once worked with our agency. However, the dissemination of such false information by Garo-SEO is a repetition of the cyber bullying that she faced in life.”

Kim Sae-ron’s family has expressed their distress over the media speculation following her death, describing their suffering and the impact of unsubstantiated claims. In light of the allegations, her family has indicated plans to pursue legal action against those they believe have harassed Kim Sae-ron, including specific references to various YouTubers.

In a counter-response, the Garo-SEO channel dismissed Gold Medalist’s denials, arguing that it operated based on information obtained directly from Kim Sae-ron’s family. They mocked Kim Soo Hyun for threatening legal action, referencing past instances where other celebrities had made similar threats.
