Ahmedabad Bans Young Children from Coldplay Concert Over Noise Concerns

The Ahmedabad District Child Protection Unit has issued a notice to British rock band Coldplay, barring children under five from attending their upcoming concerts at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26, 2025. The notice, dated January 3, also mandates that children aged 5-18 must wear earplugs to protect against harmful noise levels exceeding 120 decibels.

The action follows a petition filed by Prof. Punditrao Dharenavar, an assistant professor of Sociology at Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh. Dharenavar highlighted concerns about the potential health risks posed by loud music and flashing lights at concerts, citing World Health Organization guidelines.
