Alan Ritchson And Kevin James Set To Star In Action Comedy 'playdate'

Actors Alan Ritchson and Kevin James have been cast in the upcoming action-comedy film, ‘Playdate,’ helmed by director Luke Greenfield and penned by writer Neil Goldman.

The storyline follows Brian, played by James, who, after losing his job, takes on the unexpected role of a stay-at-home dad to his 10-year-old son. Things take a wild turn when Brian connects with another stay-at-home dad, Jeff, portrayed by Ritchson, leading to a day filled with chaos and danger as they navigate a perilous conspiracy.

‘Playdate’ is a joint production effort by Luke Greenfield’s WideAwake Pictures, Jason Benoit, Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures, A Higher Standard led by Jeffrey Greenstein, and Sean Patrick O’Reilly, among others.

Ritchson, known for his role in Amazon’s series ‘Reacher,’ is simultaneously working on various projects, including the Guy Ritchie film ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.’ His co-star, Kevin James, gained fame through CBS‘s ‘The King of Queens‘ and films like ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop’ and ‘Here Comes the Boom.’

According to Mark Fasano, the producer, the chemistry between Ritchson and James is exceptional, promising a captivating on-screen dynamic. He expressed confidence in Greenfield’s ability to deliver a high-concept comedy that strikes the perfect balance between grounded and humorous.

Jeffrey Greenstein commended the casting choices, emphasizing the actors’ creative alignment with their respective roles and the overall project’s appeal to audiences. The film aims to recreate the magic of classic action-comedies with relatable characters and compelling relationships.

Represented by their respective agencies, Ritchson by WME and James by UTA, the duo joins forces under the direction of Luke Greenfield in ‘Playdate,’ a film that promises to bring laughter and excitement to the big screen.
