Ali Larter And Billy Bob Thornton In Landman Series

Actress Ali Larter is set to star in the new Paramount+ series “Landman,” created by Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind the hit show “Yellowstone.” The series, which premieres on November 17, delves into the intense world of West Texas oil rigs and the lives of the workers within this industry[1][2].

Larter plays Angela Norris, the ex-wife of Billy Bob Thornton‘s character, Tommy Norris. Despite being complete opposites in real life, Larter and Thornton found a deep connection with their characters. “We are so different. Me and Billy in real life, are complete opposites,” Larter mentioned in an interview. “But when we came together… we both loved the material, and we found the love in these two characters. Because as much as they’re sparring all the time, they love each other for their flaws, and there’s not a lot of judgment[1].

The series is based on the podcast “Boomtown” by Christian Wallace, who spent a year living on oil rigs and in man camps. This real-world experience adds a layer of authenticity to the show, with experts on set ensuring accuracy in every detail. Larter highlighted the importance of this real-world basis, saying, “To be able to get a real eye into this world is very special[1].

Larter was particularly drawn to her character, Angela, describing her as “provocative and so free and bold and feisty.” However, she also appreciated how the series reveals the vulnerable side of the characters, showing where they “crumble[1].
