Allegiant Air Expands Nonstop Routes at Sarasota-Bradenton Airport

SARASOTA, Fla. — Allegiant Air is significantly expanding its operations at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), solidifying its position as the airport’s largest carrier with a total of 35 nonstop routes.
The Las Vegas-based airline, which first launched service at SRQ in 2018 with only three routes, has rapidly increased its footprint. Currently, Allegiant offers more destinations from SRQ than any other carrier, providing enhanced access to and from Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Allegiant’s most recent routes were introduced this week, joining the 27 already available. This growth comes on the heels of the opening of the airport’s newest concourse, Concourse A, in January. During the opening, Allegiant executives reaffirmed their commitment to SRQ, emphasizing the airline’s objectives of providing affordable travel options.
“Our mission is to make travel accessible, and we are proud to expand our network here at Sarasota-Bradenton,” said Allegiant spokesperson Jessica Wheeler.
As part of its budget-friendly strategy, Allegiant is offering one-way fares starting as low as $49 for flights to the newly launched destinations. However, travelers should be aware that additional fees for luggage and other services may apply.
The burgeoning presence of Allegiant at SRQ has coincided with record-breaking passenger numbers for the airport. In 2023, SRQ served over 4.3 million passengers, marking a 12.3% increase from the previous year. Allegiant is currently the third most-used airline at SRQ, carrying approximately 803,000 passengers from May 2023 to April 2024.
With an 18% market share of passenger volume, Allegiant ranks just behind Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines at SRQ. As demand for nonstop, low-cost flights continues to rise, Allegiant’s presence at the airport is projected to grow in the coming years, further enhancing travel options in the region.
