AMC Roosevelt Collection 16 Reopens with New Look in South Loop

SOUTH LOOP — The beloved movie theater in South Loop is reopening under new management. AMC Roosevelt Collection 16 officially welcomed moviegoers on Friday, April 25, at its location on 1011 S. Delano Court, nearly a year after closing its doors. This change comes after the original operator, Kerasotes Showplace Theatres LLC, went out of business last year.

The theater currently features five functional screens, with 14 out of its 16 auditoriums expected to be operational by May 2, and the Dolby and IMAX auditoriums slated to open this summer. AMC Theatres aims to have all installations completed by August.

Ryan Noonan, the vice president of corporate communications and PR for AMC, expressed enthusiasm about the reopening. “Getting open in what really is less than half a year is pretty remarkable, considering. So we’re really happy with the progress so far,” he said. “If anything, the theater is just going to shine even brighter than it was before.”

While fans of the former Showplace ICON might recognize the layout, they will see notable changes. Customer service windows have been replaced with kiosks, VIP seating has been removed, and the previous 21-and-older bar now features a new family-friendly MacGuffins dining area. However, the original carpet remains untouched.

Moviegoers can now enjoy plush, tan leather recliners, a significant upgrade from the previous red fabric seating. Additionally, the theater will leverage AMC’s laser projectors, enhancing visual quality for films.

Guests can purchase tickets on AMCTheatres.com for current releases such as “Sinners” and “The Accountant 2.” This new location will serve as one of the few theaters south of the Loop, joining over 25 AMC locations across the Chicago area.

Apart from the cinema, the AMC Roosevelt Collection also hosts other retail chains like Ulta Beauty, H&M, Fleet Feet Sports, and Banana Republic. AMC operates 47 locations throughout Illinois, solidifying its presence in the region.
