Amy Brenneman Joins Cast of ‘Fake It Until You Make It’ in D.C.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Amy Brenneman will star in the Washington, D.C., run of the world premiere comedy “Fake It Until You Make It,” written by Larissa FastHorse and directed by Michael John Garcés. The production, a co-venture between Center Theatre Group (CTG) in Los Angeles and Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., will debut at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles from Jan. 29 to March 9, 2025, before transferring to the Kreeger Theater at Arena Stage from April 3 to May 4, 2025.
The play, a satirical farce set in the nonprofit sector, follows the escalating rivalry between Wynona, a Native American nonprofit leader, and River, her white counterpart. Their competition spirals into chaos, revealing secrets and highlighting the absurdities of ambition and authenticity. The cast includes Noah Bean, Eric Stanton Betts, Tonantzin Carmelo, Brandon Delsid, and Dakota Ray Hebert. Brenneman will replace Julie Bowen in the D.C. run.
“After re-opening the Mark Taper Forum in the fall, we are excited to partner with our friends at Arena Stage and get back to what the Taper has been celebrated for over the course of its history—and that’s by continuing to be the home for bold world premiere productions,” said CTG artistic director Snehal Desai in a statement.
“Fake It Until You Make It” is an Edgerton Foundation Commission, originally commissioned by CTG. The play explores themes of identity, ambition, and the lengths people go to redefine themselves. “Larissa FastHorse’s writing exposes the fragile yet ruthless underbelly of the nonprofit sector, where coworking and culture clash,” said Arena Stage artistic director Hana S. Sharif. “In a town that runs on identity politics, Larissa dares to unmask us all.”
Tickets for the Los Angeles run are available through the Center Theatre Group website or by calling (323) 972-4400. The D.C. production will offer tickets starting at $59, with discounts available for military personnel, educators, students, and residents of Washington’s Southwest neighborhood.
