AnesthesiA Set to Perform Symphonic Tribute to Metallica
The Amphithéâtre Cogeco is set to host a unique musical experience on September 27, as the band AnesthesiA performs a symphonic tribute to the legendary rock band Metallica. This performance, titled “Hommage à Metallica symphonique,” will feature classic hits from Metallica’s seminal years between 1983 and 1991, performed alongside a full symphony orchestra.
This tribute concert will delve into some of Metallica’s most influential albums, such as Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, …And Justice for All, and the iconic Metallica (also known as the Black Album). In past performances throughout 2022, 2023, and 2024, the production has consistently sold out, indicating its popularity among Metallica enthusiasts.
“The reaction is good so far. We perform six nights a year and, to date, we’ve presented to sold-out audiences. There’s an obvious enthusiasm; it’s exciting!” says François Laverdière, a member of AnesthesiA. The accompaniment for the show comes from the esteemed Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières, under the baton of conductor Olivier Hébert, who also crafted the orchestral arrangements of Metallica’s tracks for this project.
François Laverdière highlights the unique blend of rock and symphony this performance offers. “This approach can make symphonic music more accessible to a wider audience by adding a new dimension to Metallica’s songs. It’s a successful partnership, and you can feel the magic during the performances,” Laverdière remarks.
Key moments of the show include renditions of “Nothing Else Matters” and “Enter Sandman,” both known for captivating the audience. Additionally, pieces like “Master of Puppets” promise to be a highlight, bringing excitement from the first notes. Laverdière, who became inspired to learn guitar after hearing Metallica’s “One,” noted, “It’s thanks to Metallica that I play music today. In the band, we’re all die-hard fans.”
Tickets for “Hommage à Metallica symphonique” are still available through the venue’s box office and the Salle J.-Antonio-Thompson ticket line at 819-380-9797.
