Ani DiFranco and Pearl Jam Reunite for New Track ‘The Message’

SEATTLE, Wash. — Three years after their last collaboration, Ani DiFranco and Pearl Jam‘s Stone Gossard have teamed up again for a new track titled “The Message.” The release features the same ensemble as their 2022 project, including DiFranco on vocals, Gossard on guitar, Josh Evans on keyboards, Skerik on saxophone, and Stanton Moore on percussion.
The song presents a groovy soundscape, with DiFranco’s emotive vocals resonating throughout. “I feel your pain,” she repeats, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and connection. Gossard expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “So fun and amazing to collaborate again with Ani, Josh, Skerik, Mike, and Stanton. Ani’s vocals are transcendent.” DiFranco reflected on the creative process, saying, “The mood started with Stone’s demo and evolved from there. Super fun to team up with some badasses and pull a song out of the air.”
Currently, DiFranco is touring in support of her latest album. The first leg of her tour concluded in Seattle on February 1, and she will resume performances on March 9 in St. Petersburg, Florida, after headlining the Cayamo Cruise later this month.
Additionally, DiFranco’s documentary, directed by Dana Flor, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last summer and will screen in select theaters this spring.
Meanwhile, Pearl Jam is gearing up to launch a tour beginning April 24 in Hollywood, Florida. They are also set to headline a major music festival in May alongside artists including Kacey Musgraves, Lil Wayne with The Roots, Dave Matthews Band, and Luke Combs.
