Annual Earth Day Festival to Feature Sustainable Market and Live Entertainment in Surrey
Party for the Planet, presented by TD Bank Group, is set to bring an array of sustainable delights and live entertainment to Surrey Civic Plaza on Saturday, April 27. This annual event, known as the largest Earth Day celebration in British Columbia, promises an expanded sustainable marketplace, a unique showcase of Indigenous cultural sharing, environmental education initiatives, food trucks, and a lineup of live music and performances across four dynamic stages.
Mayor Brenda Locke emphasized the significance of caring for the environment as a reflection of community health, inviting families to join in the festivities. With a primary focus on sustainability, Party for the Planet offers a platform to learn new eco-friendly practices and enjoy the local talents that will grace the event’s stages.
This year’s event will witness the return of Surrey Parks’ popular plant sale, featuring native plant species available for purchase at affordable prices. Along University Drive, attendees can explore food trucks, a rock-climbing wall, and various local exhibitors, enriching the experience for all visitors. The Earth Stage will host exhilarating live musical acts, while the Community Stage will feature engaging dance battles and performances by Surrey’s vibrant local artists.
TD Bank Group, the presenting sponsor of Party for the Planet for the 13th consecutive year, expressed pride in supporting the event. The bank’s commitment to environmental sustainability aligns with the festival’s vision of creating a thriving planet for future generations. Through actions today, both organizations believe in shaping a better tomorrow for all.
During the Welcome Ceremony with Mayor and Council at 2:00 p.m., 500 complimentary tomato plants will be distributed to attendees. Families can look forward to special attractions such as the Ocean Wise Sea Dome and new performers at the Family Stage. Moreover, the sustainable marketplace at this year’s event has been expanded to provide an even broader range of options for environmentally conscious consumers.
