Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois Weigh in for Anticipated Heavyweight Title Fight
Daniel Dubois registered a career-high weight of 17 stone 10 pounds for the first defense of his IBF world heavyweight title against Anthony Joshua. The weigh-in event took place at London’s Trafalgar Square, where Joshua tipped the scales at 18 stone, marking an increase of 4 pounds from his most recent match.
Dubois is reportedly in high spirits as he gears up to enter the ring at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. “It’s time to get into the ring and fight. Let’s go. I’ve been working hard. A lot of work and training has gone into this and I’m ready to go. A win, by any means necessary,” Dubois remarked to the audience.
Meanwhile, Joshua, who has been in top form since defeating Francis Ngannou last March, is also ready for the battle. “I look at myself as a gladiator. I’m pumped and ready to perform for the people. I’m not smelling any roses yet, just blood. Fresh blood,” he asserted.
This much-anticipated matchup is expected to draw a crowd of 96,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium, with some last-minute tickets available. Joshua, with a record of 28 wins, 3 losses, and 25 knockouts, is aiming to reclaim the heavyweight title he lost to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021. Since that defeat, Joshua has secured four consecutive victories under the guidance of trainer Ben Davison.
Dubois, sporting a record of 21 wins and 2 losses, was promoted to full champion following Usyk’s decision to vacate the belt. Ricky Hatton has endorsed Joshua to win his third heavyweight title, citing his superior abilities and speed as key factors. “I can only see Joshua winning,” Hatton mentioned in a recent interview.
The event will include a live performance by Liam Gallagher, and other fighters such as Anthony Cacace and Josh Warrington will battle for the IBF super-featherweight title during the undercard.
Boxing fans can tune in to watch the event live on DAZN, available for £19.99. The fight will also be accessible on TNT Sports Box Office for a similar price. Various platforms such as Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV support the streaming of the event.
