Apple TV+ Series “Shrinking” Renewed for Third Season
The streaming series “Shrinking,” available on Apple TV+, has officially been renewed for a third season. This announcement was made during a special event at New York Comic Con, where co-creators Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein, along with members of the show’s cast, discussed the latest season of the critically acclaimed series.
“Shrinking” follows the story of Jimmy, portrayed by Jason Segel, a therapist in Los Angeles who, grappling with the death of his wife, begins to deviate from traditional therapeutic methods. Instead of adhering to professional guidelines, Jimmy starts offering his unfiltered opinions to his clients, leading to significant life changes for both them and himself.
The ensemble cast features renowned actor Harrison Ford in one of his initial television roles as Jimmy’s professional mentor, Paul. The show also stars Christa Miller as Liz, Jessica Williams as Gaby, Luke Tennie as Sean, Michael Urie as Brian, Lukita Maxwell as Alice, and Ted McGinley as Derek. Co-creator Brett Goldstein, known for his role in “Ted Lasso,” makes a notable guest appearance this season.
Bill Lawrence, an executive producer on the show, expressed his excitement about the renewal. “I’m so lucky to work on ‘Shrinking’ with actors, writers, and a crew so talented that they all elevate the material,” Lawrence stated. He thanked both Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. for their support in continuing to produce the series.
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, also commented on the show’s success, noting how audiences worldwide have connected with the series’ unique characters and storytelling. “We are incredibly excited for viewers to see where life takes Jimmy, Paul, Liz, Gaby, Alice, Sean, Brian, and Derek, next as they continue on their moving, heartwarming, and very funny journey in Season 3,” said Cherniss.
“Shrinking” is produced by Warner Bros. Television alongside Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. The series is notable for being the third collaboration between Apple, Lawrence, and Warner Bros. Television, following the popular series “Ted Lasso” and “Bad Monkey.”
The third season will continue to explore the lives of its central characters amid the backdrop of Jimmy’s unconventional therapeutic approach. As anticipated by fans, the new episodes promise to deliver the humor and warmth that have become hallmarks of the show.
