Apple Shifts Release Strategy for ‘Wolfs’ Featuring George Clooney and Brad Pitt
Apple has made a notable change regarding the release of the highly anticipated film ‘Wolfs,’ directed by Jon Watts and starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Initially set for a grand debut, it will now premiere at the 81st event, with Apple striking a deal with Watts for a follow-up sequel featuring both stars.
The updated plan now involves a limited theatrical release for ‘Wolfs’ on September 20, followed by its global premiere on Apple TV+ on September 27. This marks a shift from the original approach of a wide theatrical rollout before streaming.
Apple has confirmed this new release strategy but insists it doesn’t mean a complete change in their hybrid distribution model. While ‘Wolfs’ is set for limited release, other films like ‘The Instigators,’ starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, will still follow the wider release strategy Apple had previously adopted.
The company seems to be reassessing its strategies based on audience reception, as their recent release, ‘Fly Me to the Moon,’ did not perform well in theaters. The distribution for ‘Wolfs’ is being handled by Sony, the same company that managed ‘Fly Me to the Moon.’
<p'Wolfs' features Clooney as a professional fixer who finds himself in complicated situations when he has to team up with another fixer, played by Pitt. The film also features a talented cast, including Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind, and Zlatko Burić.
As Apple continues to explore the best methods to reach audiences, they are keen on ensuring that films like ‘Wolfs’ find the right platforms — merging cinema experiences with streaming accessibility. They are hopeful that the film’s mix of action, comedy, and drama will resonate well with viewers, as they work on the sequel with Jon Watts.
