Armie Hammer Uwe Boll The Dark Knight Movie Set

Armie Hammer is set to star in a new crime-fighting vigilante movie titled *The Dark Knight*, directed by Uwe Boll. The film, which has no connection to the Batman franchise, will begin filming on January 27 in Croatia. Hammer will play Sanders, a vigilante whose exploits against criminals gain him popularity on social media.

This marks Hammer’s second role since sexual misconduct allegations surfaced in 2021, which led to an LAPD investigation. Prosecutors declined to charge him in 2023, but the controversy significantly impacted his career. His last major role was in the 2022 film *Death on the Nile*.

Director Uwe Boll, known for films like *BloodRayne* and *First Shift*, has a history of attracting stars despite mixed critical reception. Boll’s *The Dark Knight* aims to blend classic superhero themes with modern elements like social media, offering a unique take on the vigilante genre.

Hammer’s return to acting has been gradual. He recently confirmed on the podcast *Your Mom’s House* that he has been turning down roles due to the volume of offers following the dismissal of the allegations. His next project, *Frontier Crucible*, a Western directed by Travis Mills, is also in the works.

While *The Dark Knight* may not be as high-profile as Hammer’s previous films like *Call Me by Your Name* and *The Man From U.N.C.L.E.*, it signals a cautious return to the spotlight for the actor. The film’s success will likely depend on how audiences respond to Hammer’s comeback and Boll’s unconventional storytelling.
