Art Conservation Project Grants Announced for 2025

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Sixteen cultural institutions will receive funding from the Bank of America‘s Art Conservation Project this year. This initiative aims to preserve important artworks from various cultures and eras.
The selected institutions include the Sydney Opera House and the National Portrait Gallery, showcasing a diverse range of artistic styles, media, and cultural traditions from the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Latin America.
Since its inception in 2010, the Art Conservation Project has awarded over 275 grants in 40 countries to conserve paintings, sculptures, works on paper, manuscripts, and archaeological artifacts. The program addresses the pressing need to sustain art for future generations.
“Art reflects the creativity, ingenuity, and history of the people who created these works — and like everything, art is vulnerable to the passage of time,” said Brian Siegel, Global Arts, Culture & Heritage Executive at Bank of America. “Together with some of the world’s finest cultural institutions, we can help preserve these works for future generations.”
Each conservation project employs advanced techniques tailored to the unique needs of the artwork. Previous grants have supported restoration efforts for notable pieces by artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Sam Gilliam, and Jenny Holzer.
The Art Conservation Project continues to exemplify Bank of America’s commitment to cultural heritage while promoting responsible growth.
