Ashanti and Nelly Welcome Their First Child Together

On August 21, 2024, R&B singer Ashanti announced the birth of her first child with rapper Nelly. The couple welcomed a baby boy named Kareem Kenkaide Haynes on July 18. In her statement, Ashanti revealed that the nickname for their son is ‘KK’ and noted that ‘Kenkaide’ is a tribute to her father’s name.

In a heartfelt message, Ashanti expressed her commitment to motherhood, stating, ‘My son definitely dictates everything now, he is the priority overall…’ She emphasized her dedication to giving ‘everything and my all’ to her son, describing her feelings as deeply connected to him.

Ashanti also shared an Instagram post on August 21 that hinted at the birth of her child. In the post, she reflected on her journey to motherhood, saying, ‘Funny how life’s plans aren’t…always on time.. lol.’ She candidly discussed the challenges of postpartum life while showcasing her recovery shorts.

Ashanti, 43, and Nelly, 49, have a long relationship history that dates back over two decades. After a breakup in 2013, the former couple rekindled their romance in September 2023 and were reported to have married in December 2023.

In April 2024, they made their pregnancy announcement through an advertisement, confirming months of speculation. Additionally, legal documents revealed their marriage status, indicating their commitment to each other and their growing family.

As a father, Nelly, who has two grown children from a previous relationship, expressed pride in his new role. The couple is reportedly overjoyed with the arrival of their son, Kareem Kenkaide Haynes.

This announcement comes shortly after a recent incident involving Nelly, who was arrested at a Missouri casino on August 7 for possession of ecstasy pills. His legal representative stated that Nelly was unaware of an outstanding warrant against him at the time of the arrest.
