18 Atlanta Schools Honored for Academic Excellence in 2024
ATLANTA, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) has recognized 18 Atlanta Public Schools for outstanding academic achievements in 2024, honoring institutions for significant improvements, exceptional progress, and mastery of state standards.
Among the distinctions awarded, 10 Title I schools were named “Title I Reward Schools” for demonstrating the most significant improvement, exceptional achievement, and progress. These schools include Parkside Elementary, Heritage Academy Elementary, William M. Boyd Elementary, Emma Hutchinson Elementary, L.O. Kimberly Elementary, Hope-Hill Elementary, West Manor Elementary, William J. Scott Elementary, F. L. Stanton Elementary, and Benteen Elementary, which has received the honor for two consecutive years.
Additionally, seven schools were recognized for improving their College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Content Mastery scores by at least 5% from 2023 to 2024. These schools include Continental Colony Elementary, Harper-Archer Elementary, Paul L. Dunbar Elementary, Michael R. Hollis Innovation Academy, KIPP Soul Academy, KIPP Vision Primary Charter, and KIPP Ways Academy Charter.
Carver Early College was also commended for successfully improving outcomes for its underperforming student groups, allowing it to exit the “Targeted Support” classification. The school is now recognized as a model for progress in addressing achievement gaps.
Anna K. Davie Elementary School was highlighted as a Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) school, achieving a 5% increase in its CCRPI Content Mastery score and scoring 80 or higher in another component. Principal Brant Amerman expressed pride in the school’s progress, stating, “It reflects the positive strides we are making in student achievement, and I couldn’t be happier with the progress our students have made over the past several school years.”
State School Superintendent Richard Woods praised the efforts of students, teachers, and school communities, saying, “These schools prove that with collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to success, all students can achieve their fullest potential.”
Atlanta Public Schools, one of the largest districts in Georgia, serves approximately 50,000 students citywide. The recognition underscores the district’s commitment to academic excellence and equity in education.
