Australian advertising director, Mark Molloy, hailing from the small town of Waubra near Ballarat in Victoria, has landed a massive opportunity in Hollywood with the release of his feature film debut,

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. Molloy’s journey from rural Australia to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood started with a childhood viewing of the original Beverly Hills Cop in 1984, sparking a lifelong passion for filmmaking.

The film, a revival of the iconic franchise, is set to stream on Netflix, with Eddie Murphy reprising his role as Axel Foley, alongside familiar faces like Judge Reinhold and John Ashton. New additions to the cast include Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, bringing fresh energy to the series produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Molloy’s background in commercial directing, with notable work for brands like Apple, Samsung, and Nike, caught the attention of Bruckheimer, leading to this unexpected opportunity to helm a major franchise film.

Despite being a first-timer in the feature film space, Molloy’s unique vision for blending gritty action with heartfelt comedy resonated with the project’s stakeholders, earning him the chance to work with Murphy himself on bringing the beloved character of Axel Foley back to the screen.

As filming for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F wrapped up, Molloy planned to share the film with his hometown at Regent Cinemas in Ballarat, a symbolic gesture to commemorate his journey from a boy dreaming of Hollywood to a director making waves in the industry.
